Aktiviti Kokurikulum di Sekolah

Salam Satu Malaysia,

TPM selaku Menteri Pelajaran Malaysia telah menyatakan bahawa aktiviti sukan di sekolah-sekolah akan dirombak tahun hadapan. Petikan dari The Star disertakan di bawah.

Kenyataan seperti ini telah kita dengar dan baca berulang kali. Idea yang baik dan bernas tetapi tidak ada tindakan. Kini, kebanyakkan sekolah dalam proses menghabiskan Sukan Tahunan secepat mungkin. Ada sekolah yang telah mengadakan sukan tahunan pada bulan Februari Alasan yang sering diberi adalah utntuk memberi lebih masa untuk persediaan akademik.

Pada pendapat saya, aktiviti kokurikulum (bukan sukan sahaja) perlu diadakan sepanjang tahun supaya terdapat keseimbangan dalam membina insan yang harmonis. Kita membina insan. Ini perlu dilakukan secara berterusan. Kita tidak boleh membina satu bahagian dahulu dan ganti dengan bahagian lain (membina rumah bolehlah).

Kita sebagai guru/pendidik yang telah mempelajari psikologi kanak-kanak seharusnya menasihati individu yang bukan guru tentang keprluan kanak-kanak. Malangnya kebanyakan guru terlupa tentang prinsip-prinsip psikologi yang telah dipelajari dan ikut kehendak orang yang 'tidak tahu' tentang perkembangan dan pertumbuhan kanak-kanak. Ini telah mengakibatkan kanak-kanak hari ini mengejar 'A' dan bukan pingat.

We are the experts so why let others control us. Saya sangat berharap agar saudara/saudari memberi komen. Anda tidak semestinya bersetuju dengan saya mahupun dengan kenyataan TPM asalkan komen anda adalah komen profesional.

Revamp of sports activities in schools next year

KUALA LUMPUR: The government will take a major step to revamp sports activites in schools by next year.

Deputy Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin said that the sports activities in schools now last for only the first few months.

“There is no sport activities in the second half of the year because of examinations. We want to revamp it by having sports activities during the school holidays,” said Muhyiddin after giving away Sportswriters Association of Malaysia (SAM)-100PLUS awards in Petaling Jaya yesterday.

Muhyiddin, who is also the Education Minister added that the best way to get children involved in sports is through schools.

“More qualified sports teachers should be enrol to help develop sports in school.

“Schools also need all types of sports facilities like fields, halls (for indoor sports) and other infrastructure to help develop sports among schoolchildren.

“I will suggest to the government to pump in more money in the 10th Malaysian Plan (2011-2015) to have more fields and halls for school children.

“We need a bigger budget for the next five years to develop sports in every school to produce top class athletes,” said Muhyiddin.

Muhyiddin said that he would make sure all the 11 sports which were dropped from the national schools (MSSM) championships calendar this year because of financial woes would be carried out in the next few months.

  1. Bila menteri sudah beri perhatian kpd sukan di sekolah, yang pelaksana perlulah menjalankannya. Janganlah ingkar termasuklah pegawai2 di kementeriaan, jabatan, pejabat pelajaran, pengetua dan penolong kanan. Mereka ini kalau tak menurut arahan jangan naikkan pangkat atau gred lagi. Itulah masalahnya kalau yang pegang jawatan di sekolah, ppd, jabatan dan kementerian, orang yang tak minat sukan. Sukan di sekolah ni penting. Ia membentuk insan dan membina potensi diri pelajar seiring dgn falsafah pendidikan negara. Mereka yang pegang jawatan dan ada kuasa ini kenalah selalu dihantar pergi kursus/bengkel/kem berkaitan dengan pelaksanaan sukan di sekolah. Sampai timbul minat dan ada perubahan dalam diri mereka. Mudah-mudahan berjaya.

Cocurricular activities must be held throughout the year.That is the way to nuture all round beings.The trouble with our system is we teachers who are the experts in our field are not consulted but rather we are being imposed by others who do not know what they are talking about. Leave the planning to us teachers and give us the backing be it monetary or otherwise

  3. selamat sejahtera,

    Bagi saya isu kemudahan juga perlu diambil kira, lihat saja di klang misalnya, padang sekolah bertukar jd bangunan, ada padang pun keadaan amat daif. Realiti sekarang, tp bkn ini yang saya ingin tekankan.

    Pada awal 90an dulu, zaman sekolah saya aktiviti sukan kami jalankan tiap2 petang. Kami mampu mewujudkan pasukan bola kami sendiri dengan segala perbelanjaan seperti jersi, bola dan perbelanjaan untuk menyertai kejohanan ditanggung secara bersama oleh setiap ahli. Kami juga mengalami masalah padang disekolah, Guru PE yang hanya benar2 menjalankan kerja mereka pada Kejohanan MSSD sahaja. Pada kami itu bukan penghalang minat kami pada sukan, semangat bersukan pada kami sangat kuat. Sanggup berpanas (liga kalah mati main pukul 1), padang penuh najis lembu dan macam2 halangan lagi. Namun, pada masa kini saya tidak nampak inisiatif dikalangan pelajar sekolah sekarang. Saya tidak tahu apa puncanya, mungkin ibu bapa ada jawapanya, mungkin menghalang..?? ibu bapa saya juga menghalang, tp bersukan ttp bersukan. Saya kurang pasti.. saya ingin mendengar pandangan ibu bapa tentang perkara ini. Komen anda dinantikan...

    setakat tu je buat masa ini, dari masa ke semasa saya cuba memberikan idea pada kawan saya ini dan semua yang ada.

    Yes, coco aktvts must be on going whole yr round for education to be meaningful as advocated in the Falsafah Pendidikan Negara. Only a small percentage of schoolchildren is invoved in MSS-organised sports program. Mass participation atvts MUST also be emphasised.
    My suggestions:
    1)The Kem Pel must challenge the HPS (High Performance Schools-Sek Berprestasi Tinggi)throughout the nation to justify their label to implement this new directive to show the way to the other schools !
    2. To all the highly qualified PE teachers & also commited sports masters in schools,they must exert their influence to send home the message that sports participation builds character which is the core of education. Plan and implement meaningful sports actvts for all your students not just the few who represent the school.Sports for all = Education for all !

  5. Masalah sukan di sekolah ialah guru mengajar mata pelajaran PJ dan mengendalikan aktiviti kokurikulum secara sambalewa. Jika hal ini berterusan, bagaimanakah kita dapat menghasilkan jaguh sukan pada suatu hari nanti. Cadangan Menteri Pelajaran tentang usaha untuk mewajibkan pelajar menyertai sekurang-kurangnya satu aktiviti sukan amatlah baik. Jika sikap guru masih di takuk lama, hal ini akan dikatakan seperti wal asal balik asil wal asul balik asal.Namun, kami amat bertuah dan bernasib baik kerana guru-guru PJ di sekolah kami amat berpengalaman dan beperngetahuan ketika mengendalikan mata pelajaran PJ dan juga aktiviti kokuriulum. Seandainya negara kita memiliki guru PJ seperti Cikgu Gopal dan Cikgu Nawi, saya yakin tahap sukan di negara kita akan meningkat dan pergi jauh ke depan.

    Negara kita tidak kekurangan guru PJ / sukan yang berdedikasi seperti Cikgu Gopal dan Cikgu Nawi. Hanya segilintir bangkai bernyawa yang mencemar bukan sahaja nama baik bidang PJ dan sukan malah menghancurkan aspirasi anak-anak sekolah. Idaman menjadi seorang jaguh sukan memang tertanam dalam sanubari setiap pelajar dan peluang terbaik menceburi sesuatu sukan dan permainan adalah semasa dalam zaman persekolahan dan sekiranya peluang ini terlepas akibat angkara guru PJ /sukan yang tidak bertanggungjawab, maka akibat jangkamasa panjang ialah masyarakat yang tidak aktif dan negara ketandusan bakat sukan. Yang menghairankan pihak tertentu mecadangkan rombakan dan menilai semula aktiviti sukan dan kokuriklulum. Bukan salah program tapi pelaksanaan tanpa penialaian. Rombakan demi rombakan tidak akan membawa hasil sekiranya pendidik yang merompak masa depan bakal atlet masih dibiarkan berleluasa di perkarangan sekolah. Tangisan saya kepada anak-anak sekolah yang pergi ke sekolah dengan penuh harapan, hanya pulang dengan kehampaan.

  7. A comment sent directly to my email by a dear friend. Too good not to be shared.

    Typical damage control measures. Sports in schools have been hijacked when 11 sports were cancelled from the MSSM calendar. Yet they announced 20 schools being awarded SBT status. Should the school sports programme or the programmers that needs to be revamped (as if the latter has never been?) What reasons were given for the 11 sports (e.g. too costly to organise; not popular?) Although at the time of writing some u-turns are being made (?) The cancellation of even one sport for a year will have far reaching effects. The biggest losers are the young aspiring athletes, their long suffering teacher-coaches and not forgetting the sacrificing parents. Now it’s 1Student 1Sport slogan. Isn't sport part of co-curricular all this while? Yes, as experts, we should make our voices heard. Well, 5 millions signed a petition against the war in Iraq, yet they went and came back. God bless all the dedicated teachers who continue to toil to unearth the potentials in schools.

    All PE teachers,

    While the DPM has come forward with a noble suggestion, it's important to give due attention to the principles of the physical and physiological development of the child. Studies have shown that children (from pre school upwards) need to participate in organised physical activities that provides for the child to develop holistically. The standard of teaching PE requires a drastic improvement in standards. An approach the involves us (PE teachers) to constantly monitor and encourage our colleagues who have got side tracked and veered away from being teachers to being ever willing to accompany teams for competitions. Every time one of us goes out of school ....we are reinforcing the believe that PE can be sacrificed. As Cikgu Gopal also says ...the student prepares for the PE lesson very early in the week when he makes sure that his attire is ready for his lesson. Let's not point fingers to others when deep inside us we know that if there is going to be a change in the way PE is viewed it must begin with us. As for the matter of High Performance Sports for schools....that subject will be handled in due course.
    Let's fight the good fight my friends.... Put PE where it should be.... My humble apologies to Cikgu Gopal for not contributing more than I should have...
